Configuration
Where Nexus stores settings, how it orients agents, how it resolves your environment, and how to wire up an external diff tool.
Settings storage
Configuration persists through electron-store. Sensitive values are encrypted at rest using Electron’s safeStorage, which on Windows is backed by DPAPI.
CLAUDE.md
A CLAUDE.md at a repository’s root orients agents — it’s the place to put repo conventions, architecture notes, and constraints. The run launcher detects it and flags whether the selected repo has one.
PATH & environment
Nexus resolves your environment so agent CLIs launch correctly:
- On Windows, PATH is read from the Registry; on macOS/Linux it’s derived from a login shell.
- The resolved environment is merged into every PTY session.
- When no system Git is present, Nexus falls back to dugite’s bundled Git.
CLAUDE_CODE_GIT_BASH_PATHis honored so Claude Code finds Git Bash on Windows.
External diff tool
Point Nexus at your preferred diff tool with a command template. Use {original} and {modified} placeholders for the two sides:
meld {original} {modified}
Nexus substitutes the file paths into the command before launching it.
Any diff tool that takes two file path arguments works — just slot {original} and {modified} where the tool expects its left and right files.
