Projects & groups
A project is a registered Git repository with live state. Groups organize projects into the fleet you actually work across.
What a project is
A project is a Git repository you’ve registered with Nexus. Each one carries live git state that updates as you and your agents work — current branch, dirty file count, worktree count, and active agent count.
Live git state
State is watched, not polled. Nexus uses @parcel/watcher for filesystem events — on Windows that means ReadDirectoryChangesW under the hood — so changes appear in the rail near-instantly without a CPU-burning poll loop.
Groups
Projects can be organized into groups. You can:
- Create, rename, and delete groups.
- Collapse a group to reduce rail density.
- Drag projects to reorder them or move them between groups.
Directory scanning
Rather than adding repos one at a time, point Nexus at a parent directory. It scans three levels deep and registers every Git repo it finds, skipping node_modules so large workspaces stay quick to import.
Persistence
Project and group configuration persists via electron-store. On Windows, sensitive values are encrypted at rest using DPAPI through Electron’s safeStorage.
